Igor Janik clinches 34th Cracovia Blitz Open 2023, Anwesh Upadhyaya second
GM Igor Janik (POL) scored 9.5/11 to win 34th Cracovia Blitz Open 2023. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Dr. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya, FM Franciszek Sernecki (POL) and Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi scored 9/11 each. They secured second, third and fourth place according to tie-breaks. IM Bhakti Kulkarni scored 8/11 to finish 13th. She won the first prize in Women category. The top three prizes were 1000, 800 and 600 PLN. The tournament took place on the first day of 2024. Blitz tournament on 1st January 2024
A total of 268 players including 4 GMs and 12 IMs took part from 23 countries across the world. The one-day nine round Blitz Rating Open tournament. It was organized by MPZSzach/Kraków City Hall at Hotel Galaxy in Krakow, Poland on 1st January 2024. The time control of the event was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment per move.
